The Lake View Lady Wild Gators advanced to the second round of the 1-A basketball play-offs with a 66-18 win over the visiting Allendale-Fairfax Lady Tigers on Wednesday, February 17, in Lake View.
The large, enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the game from start to finish as Lake View exploded onto the scene.
The Wild Gators controlled the opening tip-off and began scoring.
Lake View’s Gwendasia Page placed the first point of the game while at the charity line. Lake View was off and running. Ja’Niyah Waters also added a point on the free throw line followed by a 2-point basket on a lay-up. Jaleya Ford also laid one in for 2 points followed by Sa’nayah Wiliams with a 2-point lay-up. Lake View quickly took an 8-0 lead. Allendale-Fairfax’s Trinity Mickell was fouled and sank a free throw for the first point of the game. This quickly set the stage for the Lady Tigers to lay one in for 2 points. Lake View’s Ja’Niyah Waters sank another lay-up for 2 points to give Lake View a 10-3 lead. Zan’Dasia McNeil also sank a lay-up followed by Sa’nayah Williams who picked up a point at the charity line to give Lake View a 13-3 lead. Gwendasia Page then added a free throw for the Wild Gators followed by a free throw by Ja’Niyah Waters. As the buzzer sounded to end the first quarter of play, Lake View was up 15-3. Lake View committed only 1 foul in the first quarter while Allendale-Fairfax committed 6 fouls.
At halftime, Lake View had a convincing 31-7 lead. The Lady Wild Gators committed only 2 fouls in the second quarter while the Lady Tigers committed 8 fouls.
After 3 quarters of play, Lake View was up 46-15 and had committed only 3 fouls in the third quarter while Allendale-Fairfax committed 5 fouls.
In the final quarter of play, Lake View committed 3 fouls, and Allendale-Fairfax committed only 1 foul.
Lake View’s Ja’Niyah Waters led all scorers with 14 points. She sank five 2-point baskets and 4 free throws. Jaleya Ford added 12 points to the scoreboard with five 2-point baskets and 2 free throws.
Zan’Dasia McNeil and Tianaa Hamilton each sank five 2-point baskets for 10 points each. Gwendasia Page had two 3-point baskets and 3 free throws for 9 points. Sa’Niyah Williams had two 2-point baskets and a free throw for 5 points. Zy’Kiara Waters and Da’Myra Page each sank a 3-point basket.
Allendale-Fairfax’s Trinity Mitchell led her team in scoring with 12 points. She had four 2-point baskets and 4 free throws. Zion Jones sank 4 free throws for 4 points. Lokeya Robinson sank a 2-point basket.
