The 51st Annual Palmetto State School Counselor Association (PSSCA) Annual Conference was held January 20 – 22, 2022 in Hilton Head Island, SC with 650 school counselors in attendance. The theme for the conference was “United! Connect. Lead. Advocate. Innovate.”
Dr. O’Tasha Morgan, PSSCA President, stated “This year’s conference gives us the opportunity to network and collaborate with amazing professionals from across the state and country. Let’s come together for a common cause; to be United in our common passion to see all students succeed. We are strong together.”
Dillon County was represented with current and former residents at the conference. Dr. Miranda E. Page, school counselor at East Elementary School, and Dr. LaWanda R. Felder, school counselor at Cross Elementary School and Executive Director of PSSCA, were co-presenters for a session titled “New School Counselor Tools.” Latta native Lt. Col. Antonio Pittman gave opening remarks at the luncheon sponsored by the Army ROTC. LTC Antonio M. Pittman serves as professor of Military Science at South Carolina State University Army ROTC “Bulldog” Battalion. Antonio is a 1996 graduate of Latta High School and 2002 graduate of Benedict College. Dillon native Pamela King McRae, school counselor at Ford Elementary School in Laurens School District 55, also attended the conference. Pamela is a 2006 graduate of Dillon High School and she received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2011 and Master’s Degree in 2018 from South Carolina State University.
