The visiting Johnsonville Golden Flashes handed the Lake View Wild Gators a 42-25 defeat in Lake View on Friday, February 4, in varsity basketball.
Johnsonville controlled the tip-off. However, Lake View’s Jonathan Carter scored the first 2 points of the game that was quickly answered by Johnsonville’s Jordan Williams with a 2-point basket. With 3 minutes remaining in the first quarter of play, Johnsonville was up 8-3. The Golden Flashes continued to score and added 5 more points before the end of the first quarter while holding Lake View to no more baskets to lead 13-3 after the first quarter.
Johnsonville committed 5 fouls in the first quarter of play while Lake View committed 3 fouls.
Lake View’s Derrick Bethea, Jr. scored the first 2 points of the second quarter, and Sevon Nichols added 2 points to cut the Golden Flashes lead to 6 points. Alontre’ Pressley added a basket in response to the Lake View gain. By halftime, Johnsonville was up 19-13. Each team committed 4 fouls in the second quarter of play.
In the third quarter of play, Johnsonville increased the lead by 11 points, 32-21 over Lake View. Each team committed 2 fouls in the quarter.
