The Dillon Christian School Junior Varsity Lady Warriors lost a heartbreaker to the visiting Conway Christian Lady Eagles 29-28 in the final seconds of the game.
Both teams got off to a slow start in the first half. By the end of the third quarter Dillon was up 24-15.
With 2:59 remaining in the game, Conway had cut the lead to 4 points, 25-21. With 2:50 remaining in the game, the Dillon lead was cut to 2 points. With 33 seconds remaining in the game, Dillon still held a 2-point lead, 27-25. With 20.1 seconds remaining in the game, Conway’s Sophie Hill hit the first free throw of a 1-in-1 and followed up with another free throw to knot the score at 27. Conway’s #13, Madison S. caught an in-bound pass and scored a 2-point basket to go up 29-27. With 6.2 seconds remaining in the game, Dillon’s Cadance Locklear sank a free throw to cut the lead to only 1 point, 29-28. The Lady Warriors attempted 3 more shots after the second free throw failed but came up short.
Dillon’s Cadance Locklear led all scorers with 12 points as she connected for five 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. Lily King added 10 points on two 3-point baskets, a 2-point basket, and 2 free throws. Bo Richardson sank three 2-point baskets for 6 points.
Conway’s Madison S. had 7 points on two 2-point baskets and a 3-point basket. Grace P. sank three 2-point baskets for 6 points. Emily Caston had a 2-point basket and 3 free throws for 5 points. Sophie Hill had a 2-point basket and 2 free throws for 4 points. Virginia Quick also placed 4 points on the scoreboard has she connected for two 2-point baskets. Emily Adams had a 2-point basket and a free throw for 3 points.
