Latta School Board
Minutes—January 11, 2022
The Latta School Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the District Administrative Conference Room. In accordance with S.C. Code of Laws of 1976, as amended, Section 30-4-80)E). The Dillon Herald was notified of the time, date, place and agenda of this meeting. The agenda is also posted in the District Office and on the district website.
Trustees present were Kyle Berry, Ray George, Vanessa Harrison, Kwame Hennagan, Stuart Poston, Eleanor Powers and Jo Ann Williamson.
Chair Kyle Berry welcomed all present and George Liebenrood opened with prayer.
Jodie Branham recognized Sophia McLain Roberts for her achievement of excellence in being selected to attend the South Carolina Music Educators Association All-Star Chorus Clinic at Winthrop University.
There being no corrections or additions to the November 2, 2021 and November 9, 2021 minutes and the current agenda, Eleanor Powers made a motion that they stand approved. Stuart Poston seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous.
OLD BUSINESS
George Liebenrood gave an update on COVID protocol.
Jo Ann Williamson made a motion to adopt a change in COVID protocol for staff who have a household contact and are not fully vaccinated. The staff member must quarantine for 10 days and then return and wear a mask for another 5 days. Students who have a household contact must quarantine for 15 days. Stuart Poston seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous.
Chair Kyle Berry ruled that the discussion on Policy JBAB will take place at the February Board meeting.
An update on the Latta Elementary and Latta High School construction was given by George Liebenrood.
George Liebenrood reviewed the safe return to in-person instruction plan with the Board and asked for input.
DEPARTMENTAL BUSINESS
Donna Taylor presented the status reports for October 2021 and November 2021 on the General Fund budget.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on COVID cleaning, school grounds, Ellis Performing Arts auditorium floors and bus drivers.

NEW BUSINESS
Ray George made a motion to approve the Town of Latta to use the Latta High School gym on Saturdays. Jo Ann Williamson seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on a new teacher contract.
Upon the principals’ recommendations, a motion to approve the professional and paraprofessional contracts as presented for the 2022-2023 school year was made by Eleanor Powers and seconded by Stuart Poston. Vote was unanimous.
In observance of School Board Recognition Month, each Board Member was presented a gift certificate to Shuler’s BBQ.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn at 6:32 p.m. was made by Stuart Poston and seconded by Jo Ann Williamson. Vote was unanimous.
