Recently, Dillon County 4-H wrapped up our 2nd Annual 4-H Scarecrow Decorating Contest. We had twelve businesses and residents participate in the contest this year. We enjoyed seeing the different entries participants created outside their homes and businesses. The People’s Choice award was awarded to the display that received the most “likes” on our county Facebook® page. And for the second year in a row, this award was won by Latta Middle School. LMS art teacher Anna Rogers had her art students create a large Viking ship with a hand-painted sail and a Viking on board to display their school pride.
Our Judge’s choice was awarded to The City of Dillon with their horse and rider display. Lisa Moody worked hard to create Hay-mon and his horse Bullseye. Each year, we host this contest to help spotlight Dillon County 4-H during National 4-H Week, which is held annually during the first whole week in October. We reached over 8,000 views on our Facebook® post highlighting each display and attracted more youth members making this year’s contest a huge success. Thanks to all who participated, voted, and helped us shine a light on our county 4-H program.
