Barbara Ann McCutcheon Smith, 92, of Fairmont, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at UNC Health Southeastern Hospital in Lumberton.
Barbara was born July 22, 1929, in Dillon, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and May McCutcheon; and her only sibling, a brother, Kenny.
She married Chandos Lewis Smith of Fairmont and they had four daughters. He died about a month after their 50th wedding anniversary. Chandos and Barbara loved to shag at the beach.
Barbara was a homemaker and worked at her husband’s warehouses during tobacco season. A charter member of the Fairmont Golf Club. Barbara was an avid golfer who once made a hole in one and also a bridge player. She was also remembered for her crochet work.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Smith Poole of North Myrtle Beach, Amy Smith and husband, Don Smith, of Lumberton, Jo Ann Smith Lewis and husband, Robert and Chandra Smith Page and husband, Michael, all of Fairmont. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren who called her “TOT”, Channon Hester (Jason), Joseph Ancona, Myles Poole, Jetter Lewis (Cassie), Bryan Lewis (Taylor), Ivy Page and Capi Gallier. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Archie Taylor, Garth Lewis, Frances Lewis, Brody Lewis, and Harper Lewis.
She is also survived by some loving caregivers, Cathy Britt, Jane Humphrey, and Betty Nealy.
A graveside service will be announced later.
