DILLON, S.C. – CareSouth Carolina gave out free school supplies to 300 students in the Pee Dee area as part of its Back to School Drive-Thru Bash on Saturday at the Dillon Wellness Center.
A large line of cars made their way around the Dillon Wellness Center as students received book bags, pencils, paper, notebooks and other supplies as they prepare to begin the new school year. In addition, attendees ages 12 and up had the opportunity to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which was given by CareSouth Carolina’s MOBY team.
The Moby- a mobile unit equipped with healthcare technology- allows CareSouth Carolina providers, nurses and community health workers to operate outside of the four walls of the organization’s office locations.
“CareSouth Carolina appreciates Dillon Wellness Center’s collaboration in providing a safe and convenient site to distribute school supplies to children during this pandemic as they prepare to go back to school,” CareSouth Carolina Chief of Community Health Joe Bittle said. “We had a great turnout and were very pleased with the support of the community to make this happen. This not only was a chance to get some free school supplies, but also to get the Pfizer vaccine for those ages 12 and up.”
