After nine years as a head coach, Brandon Iseman is awaiting the opening of the 2021-2022 football season that begins on August 27 as the Latta Vikings host the Cheraw Braves in the season opener on Friday, August 20.
Although Head Coach Brandon Iseman and his coaching staff are preparing for the new season after after a 1-2 record last year during the Covid-19 pandemic, they find themselves facing the challenge of replacing some key personnel from last year’s team as they lost 12 players of which the offensive and defensive line needs to be re-filled. However, the team has the most experience in the wide receiver department, the defensive backs, and linebackers.
Coach Iseman added Coach Buddy Wright who will be the team’s new defensive coordinator with a new defensive implementation.
Coach Iseman has been coaching for 11 years now of which 9 of those he has served as a head coach. He will employ all he has obtained to overcome any shortcomings in his players and will engage his players with their strongest attributes.
Latta Vikings Head Coach and Co-athletic Director Brandon Iseman and his coaching staff are pleased with the conditioning of the varsity football players for the upcoming season. The players have been in the weight room and working hard to get into shape for the season. The Latta football coaching staff consists of Head Coach and co-athletic director Brandon Iseman, Buddy Wright as the defensive coordinator, Matt Caulder as the wide receivers coach, Jeremy Oxendine as the defensive backs coach, Chris Page as the running backs coach, Bobby Richardson as the running backs coach, Robert McIntyre as the defensive linemen’s coach, Andy Herring as JV Head Coach, Clint Brown as the JV defensive coach, and Malcolm Short as the JV Assistant Coach.
Each week the Vikings will face an opponent and take each game and compete to the best of their ability. Each game will be a challenge but will be addressed as the “game of the week’.
Latta opens the season on the road to Andrew Jackson as a non-region game on Friday, August 27, at 7:30 p.m. The Vikings will also travel the following week on September 3 to McBee, another non-region game.
Latta will be at home on Friday, September 10 to host Hannah-Pamplico, another non-region foe.
