Three fire departments were called to a fire at Diversified Plastics at 1275 Highway 917 West on Thursday, according to Dillon County Fire Station Two Chief Anthony Britt.
Dillon County Station Two (Latta) arrived on the scene at 6:01 a.m. where they found “multiple cylinders on fire as well as plastics containers that were being stored in the area around the gas cylinders.”
Chief Britt called for additional stations for more manpower. Station One (Dillon) responded with a ladder truck, and Station Nine (Oak Grove) also responded.
Britt said the ladder truck extinguished a large portion of the fire and handlines were used to help with the fire suppression and to address hot spots.
There was exterior damage to the building and a partial collapse in the area where the fire is believed to have started, according to the fire report.
