The first floor of the Latta Rotary building on Main Street in Latta has been completely renovated and is now once again occupied by a business.
The building was badly damaged by flooding during Hurricanes Matthew and Florence with the first flooding occurring four years ago.
Latta Rotary President Patty Griffey said it has taken a long time to get here. She, Walt Brown, and Cindy LeGette have been the primary people handling the project. As anyone who visits the building can see, it has been well worth the wait.
The office looks completely different than it did when it was an insurance agency years ago and is very elegant.
The colors have been updated to three shades of grey with a bright white trim. Trey McLaurin assisted with the color scheme and helpful suggestions.
Some of the original features of the building have been highlighted and brought out such as the tin ceiling and the fireplace mantle. Griffey said they wanted to keep as many of the original features as possible.
A concrete slab was poured inside the building so the new flooring can be easily replaced should flooding occur there again.
The landscaping outside of the building is currently being updated with the help of Amanda Morrell.
There are additional plans to enhance the facade.
The building is now occupied by Surveyor William Hayes.
