DILLON – James Hagood Watson, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 02, 2021, at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Greenlawn Cemetery with Reverend Bert Petty officiating. Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon will be assisting the family.
Hagood was born in Dillon, SC on October 12, 1931, the son of the late Pierce and Eva Watson. He retired from International Food House as a salesman and was later employed by Darlington Packing Company. Mr. Watson was a member and active participant of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director and with the Men’s Brotherhood. He was a Mason and a member of Mackey#77 Lodge. Hagood enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served in the United States Army. Hagood was the widower of Dorothy McKenzie Watson.
He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, Sonja Watson Rogers and Jamie Sue Watson Stephens both of Dillon; sisters, Jane Watson Collins (Darroll) of Mullins, Ann Watson Byrd (Randy) of Dillon and Nan Watson Carmichael (John) of Dillon; grandchildren, Neal Allen Stephens, Jr. (Callie), James Brunson Rogers (Kendall), Dorothy McKenzie Stephens and Elizabeth Rogers Eubanks (Taylor); and great grandson, Neal Allen Stephens III.
Hagood is preceded in death by his parents, Pierce and Eva Watson; wife, Dorothy McKenzie Watson; brother, Hubert Earl Watson; sister, Dorothy Watson Rogers; and son-in-law James Lewis Rogers.
