Dillon School District Four will hold an Academic Recovery Camp in July.
Lynn Liebenrood, Director of Student Services, said the camp will be held from July 6-31 (Monday through Friday) at Stewart Heights Elementary for grades K-3. Students were selected based on MAP scores. 250 students were selected, and at the time of the Dillon District Four School Board meeting, permission forms were still coming from parents, Liebenrood said. The schedule for students is as follows: Breakfast 8:00 – 8:30, ELA 8:30 – 10:00, Break 10:00 – 10:15, Math 10:15 – 11:15, Lunch 11:15 – 11:45, Pack Up 11:45 – 12:00, Load buses 12:00.
Teachers will work from 7:30 p.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Currently, they are planning a face-to-face camp with a one teacher to 12 student ratio. There will be 13 teachers and four assistants for Kindergarten.
There will be a nurse, administrator, reading coach, media specialist, and school counselor.
They can only have half capacity on the buses.
If the state decided that they cannot have face-to-face camp, then they will do the instructional packets.
The state department is funding the camp.
