With fears of the coronavirus and other illnesses running rampant this time of year such as the flu, many citizens are becoming increasingly concerned on how to protect themselves from illness.
One of the best ways that health officials are saying is to properly, thoroughly, and frequently wash your hands throughout the day or if handwashing is not an option, to use hand sanitizer, which is scarcely available these days due to the urgency surrounding the coronavirus.
Dillon County citizens are fortunate in the fact that we have a group, the Dillon County Long Term Recovery Group, who has been preparing for such an emergency. On Monday, the group handed out approximately 248 sanitizer kits at the Latta Town Hall with the help of the Girl Scouts. These kits included a hand sanitizer, respirator mask, and information on pandemics. Each household also received a bottle of cleaner. This same type of giveaway will occur in the Town of Lake View at the Lake View Community Center at 106 Richard Temple Boulevard from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Kits are limited to one per person, and you must show an ID to prove you are a resident. A date for Dillon has not yet been scheduled. Residents are urged to take part in getting these kits.
For those who can’t go pick up a kit, thorough handwashing is still urged We have a diagram below which demonstrates the proper handwashing method. We also had other tips in Tuesday’s issue that you may wish to refer to on how to stay healthy.
If you would like to volunteer to help the LTRG at these upcoming giveaways or in other ways, please call them at 843-621-6626 for more information on how you can help.
