“Honoring All Who Serve” was the program at the Ellis Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 12, at 10:00 a.m., by the Latta Schools Educational Foundation.
Prior to the show, there was art in the lobby provided by Amber Jordan’s Latta High School Art I classes.
Kristian Hennagan, an eighth grader, was the Emcee for the event.
After he welcomed everyone, Miranda Lee, also an eighth grader and a member of the Latta Middle School Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leaders, had the opening prayer.
The Pledge of Allegiance was by Haley Nolan, also of the eight grade and a member of the Latta Middle School Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leaders.
The Honor Choir of LHS, under the direction of Polly Kopituk, sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
This was followed by essay by one of the eighth grade winners.
Dr. John Kirby, Superintendent of the Latta Schools, led the program honoring the local veterans. Each veteran introduced himself or herself, the branch and date of service, and any special awards that person had received.
This was followed by another eighth grade essay winner who read the essay written by this person.
The Select Choir of LMS, under the direction of Polly Kopituk, sang “United We Stand”.
Another eight grade essay winner read an essay followed by “My America” by the Sixth Grade Chorus under Director Polly Kopituk.
The closing prayer was by Eli Jones, an eight grader and member of the LMS Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leaders.
The program was well received and appreciated by all.
