Dillon returned home on Thursday, Sept. 12, with a 36-6 win in junior varsity football action over Latta in Latta.
Dillon jumped out to an early 8-0 lead over Latta in the first quarter and continued to score throughout the game.
Dillon’s #4 scored again before the end of the first quarter. However, the play was negated.
Dillon’s #5 scored with 9:24 remaining in the second quarter. The 2-point conversion was made by #3 to give Dillon a 16-0 lead. On the kick-off to Latta, Christian Herrman bobbled the football but still managed to pick up good yardage. Latta’s offense began to move the ball successfully. Kartrell Townsend completed a pass to Gatlin Johnson for the score with 5:39 remaining in the second quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed.
Dillon’s #2 scored as time expired in the first half. The 2-point conversion failed. Dillon had a 22-6 halftime lead. With 6:58 remaining in the third quarter, Dillon’s #5 carried one in for 6 points. With 2:58 remaining in the game, Dillon’s #8 scored 6 points and then successfully managed to take the football into the end zone for the 2-point conversion.
Dillon will have a bye on Thursday, September 19, and the Latta Vikings will travel to Aynor for a 6:00 p.m. game.
