CHARLESTON – Marjorie H. Gardner English, 100, formerly of Mullins and Dillon, died Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Brookdale/Clara Bridge of Charleston. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 1:00 P.M. in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon with Rev. Mike Summerlin officiating.
Marjorie was born in McBee, South Carolina, August 25, 1918, the daughter of the late Emma and Swillie Gardner. As a faithful member of Main Street United Methodist Church, she served in numerous church committees. Mrs. English enjoyed being an active part of her Sunday School Class and church circles. She worked a variety of jobs in her life that included: Jewelry store manager, bank teller, doctor’s office administrative assistant, and product demonstrator. Marjorie served her community as a Red Cross volunteer and was a real people lover. She enjoyed traveling, taking care of her cats and loved working in her yard. Mrs. English was the widow of Cecil Kent English.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann English Lecholop (Mike) of Folly Beach, SC; grandchildren, Allison Lecholop Bodiford (Barry) of Daniel Island, SC and Kinon Lecholop (Megan) of Charleston, SC; and great-grandchildren, Grayson Bodiford, Hayden Bodiford, Colton Lecholop, and Reade Lecholop. Marjorie was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
