Judge Roger Henderson presided over two days of General Sessions Court in Dillon on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. Several matters were heard, including bond hearings, many guilty pleas, probation violations and other administrative hearings.
Johnny Humphrey, a 23-year-old Dillon man, had a bond hearing on his charge of attempted murder. The allegations are that Humphrey severely beat a 74-year-old woman, requiring her to have two surgeries. The victim did not oppose bond, so Judge Henderson granted bond at $30,000.
Antonio McCormick, a 50-year-old Dillon man, had his bond hearing on three charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Due to the evidence presented during the bond hearing by prosecuting attorney Shipp Daniel, Judge Henderson denied McCormick’s bond.
Among those pleading guilty were Luther Oxendine (drugs), Dexter Adams (habitual traffic offender), Delton Bethea (assault and battery), Richard Bethea (failure to stop for a blue light), Dennis Cranford (drugs), Debbie Davis (assault and battery), Stormy Eaton (assault and battery), Sedric Farmer (drugs), Andrew Hailey (drugs), James Huggins (weapons), Ryan Huggins (drugs), Brian Jackson (domestic violence), Terrell McBride (drugs), James McDowell (assault and battery), Zaneta McGee (drugs), Avery McLellan (burglary), Jamel McNeil (breach of peace), Antron McRae (weapons), John Miles (drugs), Nathan Moore (failure to stop for a blue light), Jeffery Mullis (weapons), Mark Page (drugs), Jessie Summerford (drugs), Vaughn Summerset (domestic violence), Anthony White (weapons), Kyyian Whitley (weapons), Michael Williams (burglary) and Tarik Wilson (breach of peace).
Two defendants were terminated from the Drug Court program and had their sentences activated. In October of last year, Daniel Rogers was sentenced to 15 years suspended upon the successful completion of Drug Court. The judge presiding over Drug Court terminated Rogers from the program for failing drug screens, missing mandatory appointments and receiving a new charge. Last week, Judge Henderson activated his 15-year sentence. In December of last year, Ricky Summerford was sentenced to 10 years suspended upon the successful completion of Drug Court. He was terminated from the program for not completing any of the requirements, and Judge Henderson activated his 10-year sentence.
The next term of General Sessions is June 3.
