Virginia Stackhouse Barber Jones, 96, of Dillon, South Carolina passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 14, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born May 28, 1922 in Marion, daughter of the late Isaac Preston “I.P.” Stackhouse and Mary Rebecca Lane Stackhouse.
She was a hardworking woman and spent many years working for Electrolux. She enjoyed attending church, sewing, playing cards with her friends and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon as well as the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Hubert Barber, Sr.; her second husband, Powell Burnette Jones; two brothers, Cecil W. Stackhouse and P.B. Stackhouse and a sister, Rosie Lee Stackhouse.
Survivors include her three children, Eugene H. Barber, Jr. and his wife Joan of Manning, SC, Mary Knight Carter and her husband Hamer of Sanford, NC and Stephen Barber and his wife Angela of Florence, SC; one sister, Mary Alma Briggs of Reidsville, NC; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Main Street United Methodist Church, 401 East Main Street, Dillon, SC 29536. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery of Dillon.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Virginia’s name to the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 32, P.O. Box 706, Dillon, SC 29536.
