Latta edged Hartsville 4-3 in junior varsity softball action played on Wednesday, March 13, in Hartsville.
Latta’s Rylyn Marsh pitched 1 inning and struck out 1 batter and allowed 2 runs and Breleigh Grant pitched 4 innings and struck out 4 and allowed a run.
Hartsville’s Emaleigh Sivula pitched .2 inning and allowed 1 hit and no runs while Katy Sivula pitched 3.2 innings and allowed 6 hits , struck out 2, and allowed 4 runs of which 2 were earned.
Hartsville took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning before Latta managed to place a run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Latta place 2 more runs on the scoreboard to take a 1-run lead, 3-2. However, Hartsville tied the score in the top of the fifth inning. Latta scored in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim the win.
Latta managed 7 hits while Hartsville managed 4 hits.
Latta’s Regan Bethea hit a homerun and a single in her 2 at-bats. Elizabeth Brown singled and doubled in her 3 at-bats. Ava Rogers singled and picked up a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Jordan Perritt singled and picked up a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Taryn Weatherford doubled and picked up a rbi. Breleigh Grant scored a run in the game.
Hartsville’s Jasmin Lynch doubled, walked, and scored a run in her 2 plate appearances. Emaleigh Sivula doubled and scored a run in her 2 at-bats. Avarie Easters singled and picked up a rbi. Madison Dorriety singled in her 3 at-bats. Hartsville committed 2 errors while Latta did not commit an error.
Latta will host East Clarendon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20.
