The semi-pro Carolina Thunder basketball team will be using the gym at the old Latimer School as their home gym this season.
The Dillon County-based team is owned by Anthony Murray and Sebastian Page.
Murray said it was by the grace of God that he gave them the opportunity to meet with Latta town officials who were enthusiastic about the idea. ‘We are very grateful to them,” Murray said. “Latta is our home, and it will allow our fans along the Pee Dee to come see us play,” said Murray.
The team has been in existence for over five years.
They play in the East Coast Basketball League.
They play teams from along the East Coast including Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, etc.
The games are open to the public, and the team looks forward to seeing everyone at the games. The first home game is March 9th at 7:00 p.m. against Fayetteville Panthers. Come out and support your local team.
