Two men charged in 2018 incident at Bartell’s Landing in Florence County.
Agents of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division have charged two men in connection with a June 24, 2018 altercation at a boat landing near Johnsonville, S.C. that left one person dead and several others injured.
Vaughn Trey Sumersett, 29, of Dillon, was charged with one count of Murder, four counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Kidnapping and one count of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
Blake Allen Cook, 32, of Florence, was charged with one count of Assault and Battery, First Degree and one count of Assault and Battery, Third Degree by Mob.
The request for the SLED investigation was made by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Sumersett was booked at the Dillon County Detention Center where he was being held. Cook was booked at the Florence County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
