The South Carolina District Governor-Elect visited the Pilot Club of Dillon on Thursday, November 15th at the City of Dillon Fire Department. President Julie Hatcher called the meeting to order and led in the pledges to the American and State flags.
Chaplain Sandra Ross gave a devotion and afterwards everyone enjoyed a wonderful covered dish meal. Governor-Elect Donna Skipper then spoke on membership, the challenges many clubs face today, and reminded the club to never give up. Mrs. Skipper is from the Bennettsville Pilot Club and will serve as the 2019-2020 South Carolina Governor.
Established in 1921, the Pilot Club International will soon be celebrating 100 years of service!
Inspired by the mighty riverboat pilots of the day who represented leadership and guidance, the Pilot Club was founded to influence positive change in communities throughout the world by coming together in friendship and offering an outlet for service.
The Pilot Club focuses on brain health and safety, supporting those who care for others, and preparing youth and young adults for service.
Pilots do this by fund raising to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, providing pick-me-ups to local caregivers, completing projects to donate to those in need, and sponsoring and training local Anchor Clubs.
