BENNETTSVILLE – The Marlboro Development Team (MDT) expanded its Board of Directors in October to include a local business leader with extensive experience in real estate, economic development and county government.

George C. McIntyre was born in Clio, and currently resides in Bennettsville with his wife, Wendy Bunch. He owns McIntyre Realty Company and is a former member of the Marlboro County Council having served for 16 years.
MDT is the for-profit subsidiary of Marlboro Electric Cooperative, Inc., and functions as a commercial and industrial real estate developer, currently operating in 17 states.
“Job creation and enhancement of the tax base in these smaller, rural counties” are just two benefits McIntyre cited as the products of MDT’s business model. “I’m excited about being part of a creative and innovative team that is holding down costs for MEC members. It’s a win-win. No question about it.”
“I know I speak for the entire board when I say that Mr. McIntyre is a wonderful addition to our team,” says MDT and MEC Chairman Sam “Bo” McInnis, Jr. “He brings years of real estate and economic development experience that will be vital to MDT as we continue to grow and expand.”
McIntyre explained his years of government experience and work with local volunteer organizations will strengthen his contributions to MDT’s Board. He and his wife have two children, Janna and Chandler. His sister, Millie Baker, and her husband, Gene, and his sister in-law, Susan, live in Clio.
McIntyre is a graduate of Francis Marion University, where he currently serves as a member the Board of Trustees. He attends Bennettsville’s First Presbyterian Church and is a member of the local Rotary Club.
