Juanita Jackson Dew (94) of Floyd Dale, SC, passed away on October 27, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC. Juanita was born on May 4, 1924, in Dillon County. She was the daughter of Tom Jackson and Sally George Jackson. She was married to John Berry (JB) Dew, Jr., for 38 years prior to his death on July 23, 1980.
Juanita graduated from Latta High School and spent most of her adult life farming alongside her husband. She later went to work at Sara Lee Hosiery and was employed at Wal-Mart in Florence, SC, until January 2017.
Juanita will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and for her lifelong strong work ethic. She was a sports enthusiast and a talented craftswoman who enjoyed painting Santa figurines. She was a dedicated and loyal Wal-Mart employee and loved her co-workers and Wal-Mart customers–many who she considered as “family”.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Dew; sons Johnny (Rhonda) Dew, and Jody (Wendy) Dew; grandchildren Megan Dew Bley, John Berry Dew, IV, Jimmy Brown, Jr., Blake (Nicole) Dew, Nicholas Dew and John Ryan Dew; great-grandchildren Kayden Dew, Emma Bley, JP Bley and Blaise Dew. She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Tommie Lester Jackson and James L. (Dick) Jackson and her sister, Estelene Polson Thompson.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Latta United Methodist Church with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Dillon, SC. Reverend Michael E. Rouse will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018, at Cooper Funeral Home.
