JACKSONVILLE —Raeford Love, Sr., 89, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Tar Landing Baptist Church, with Rev. Jack Marshburn officiating. Entombment, with Masonic Rites, followed at Onslow Memorial Park.
Mr. Love was born May 14, 1929 in Fairmont, in Roberson County, NC. He was the son of the late James “Doc” Love and Ellie Barnes Love.
Mr. Love was a member of Tar Landing Baptist Church, Lafayette Masonic Lodge, No. 83. He was a York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason, Past Patron of Jacksonville Chapter, No. 327, Order of Eastern Star, Peace Court No. 18, Order of the Amaranth and lifetime member of the Marine Corps Engineer Society.
He retired from the US Marine Corps with 22 years of service and was a Civil Service retiree from Camp Lejeune with 20 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Love, Hazel Trask, Grace Johnson, Dora Pace and Lula McKenzie; and brothers, Boyd Love, Eris Love, Hal Love and Barnes Love.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Freida Harrelson Love of the home; two sons, Raeford Love, Jr. and his wife, Barbara and Hal Tracy Love and his wife, Melinda; two grandchildren, Lola Ellen Love McPartland of England and Lance Love of Jacksonville; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver Love of Jacksonville and Anna Bell McPartland of England.

The family received friends Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.
