Rev. Stan Rankin, the new pastor at Hamer Church of God who is originally from Seneca, SC, weathered the hurricane in Seneca, but returned on Sunday with a truck full of supplies for the Hamer/Dillon County area thanks to churches in the Seneca area.

Due to this generosity, 800 people received supplies at Hamer Church of God and the church member served 1,000 hot meals in two days time. They were expecting to re-stock with supplies on Sunday as two more trucks were to arrive from Oconee County. A former member of the Church, Durant Brown, who is now working on the oilfields in Texas, was also expected to send supplies.

Rev. Rankin said many people in their area are having a hard time getting to the places they need to get supplies due to the long distance around problematic roads, etc. Rev. Rankin said as a pastor, he is overwhelmed how people jumped in to help meet the needs. He said many members at the Hamer Church of God have worked as many as 12 hours at the time serving the public. He is proud of his flock. (Contributed Photos)
