The Pet Adoption Event held at the Dillon County Animal Shelter last week was successful with 16 dogs being adopted or going to wonderful rescues.

As many were saved, even more entered the shelter. Because of the serious overcrowding that continues at the shelter, the three groups who sponsored last week’s event have decided to continue it for another week. Friends Helping the Dillon Shelter, the Shelter Staff, and Humane Society of Dillon County members urge the citizens of Dillon County to consider adopting one of their shelter pups. The discounted adoption fee of $30.00 for any dog six months and older will continue until September 1.

Many of the dogs adopted last week were long-time residents of the Shelter, most having been there over a year. One of the adoptions was Lucille who was featured in last week’s Dillon Herald article.
She actually had two different people wanting to adopt her, both of whom had seen her sad picture in the paper and her story pulled at their heartstrings. Hopefully, the dogs pictured in today’s article will have the same good luck.
All dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered and have received proper vaccinations.
