Lake View High School baseball stand-out De’Ante O’Neal Bridgett, while surrounded by family and friends, inked with Morris College to further his baseball career on Tuesday, July 31, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake View High School Media Center.
Although De’Ante received offers from other schools such as NETC and Florence Darlington Tech, he chose Morris College as he believes he is a good fit as the school is near home and the coaches and others feel like family. “The atmosphere there is great, and I feel at home there”, stated De’Ante.
De’Ante was influenced by his Uncle Leverne, Uncle Toney, Uncle William, Aunt Martha German, Cousin Bobby, Coach Jeffery, Coach Darlyn, Cousin Dank, Cousin Pig, and Coach Kenneth in the game of baseball.
Bridgett bolstered a .409 batting average his senior year while having 2 home runs, 8 triples, and 6 doubles with 32 rbi at Lake View.
“I enjoyed playing baseball at Lake View with my Gators and teammates,” remarked De’Ante.
When not playing baseball, Bridgett enjoys fishing.
Bridgett is an All-Pee Dee selection.
While playing baseball at Lake View High School for the past 4 years, Bridgett was motivated and taught leadership skills via the coaches.
As De’Ante transitions from high school to college, he carries a good attitude and encouragement and practices what Lake View Coach Herlong taught him…”Play every game like it’s your last. Be strong in whatever you succeed.”
While at Lake View, Bridgett caught, played third base, and also played center field.
He was voted the most valuable player and had the best batting average. By the way, he was a good quarterback for the Wild Gators.
Bridgett’s Mother, Brenda, with a huge smile on her face, exclaimed “I am his Mother. I am very proud of him. He has accomplished so many things. He really loves the sport of baseball. I look forward to his future accomplishments.”
As De’Ante prepares for his future at Morris College, Lake View’s Coach Herlong and staff wishes him the best success. “He has worked hard for this.”
