The Dillon County Council took up several matters at their June 27th meeting.
Matters taken up included:
—Upon a motion by Councilman T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr., and a second by Councilman Archie Scott, the council approved donation request for the Latta Angels and the Latta Ponytails to attend the state playoffs. Each team received $1500.
—The council approved the third reading of an ordinance to amend Ordinance #12-07 providing for the closing or demolition of dwellings unfit for human habitation.
—The council passed the first reading by take only of an ordinance to provide budget appropriations for county purposes in the county of Dillon for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019 and adopt and implement rates and fees, and for other tax purposes and county appropriation purposes and to establish the tax millage to provide for the budget.
—The council approved the bid of Smith Concrete for the Lake View Library parking lot repair.
—The council approved a request to provide dumpsters for the Salkehatchie Camp mission group request. There are nine locations.
—The council passed an Emergency Ordinance providing for the payment of essential services and repairs.
—The council approved the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice agreement to house juveniles for $50 a day.
—Councilman James Campbell’s District #1 reappointment of Don Lewis to Library Board was approved.
—Councilman Harold Moody’s District #5 reappointment of Shirley Jolley to Library Board was approved.
