The Dillon District Four budget was presented at a recent trustees meeting and then to the Dillon County Board of Education.
Bryan Rivenbark, Dillon District Four’s Chief Financial Officer, presented the budget. He said this was a proposed budged since at that time legislature has not announced the base student cost. The budget will be updated for the August meting if needed.
Rivenbark presented the following budget highlights:
– “An overall budget increase of 4.215% ($1,137,084), from $26,978,258 in fiscal year 2017-2018 to $28,115,342 in fiscal year 2018-2019.”
– “The budget includes a 1% increase to the Teacher Salary Schedules. All teachers with less than twenty-three years experience will also receive a step increase. In addition, the state minimum salary schedule has been amended to raise the beginning teacher salary to $32,000 for years 0 to 2.”
– “The budget includes a 2% increase in the classified employee salary schedules for all employees paid on the salary schedules. Employees with less than twenty-three years experience will also receive a step increase.”
– “No increase in the Education Finance Act (EFA) Base Student Cost. The revenue projections are based on the current 2017-2018 Base Student Cost of $2,425,00.”
– “Employer Rates for Health Insurance increased 3.7%”
– “Employer Contribution Rates for Retirement increased 1%, from 19.06% to 20.06%.”
Both boards accepted the proposed budget.
