The Dillon City Council received the bids on the third phase of the sewer line replacement project at their June meeting.
According to the meeting minutes, “City Manager Glen Wagner presented the bids for the influent sewer line replacement. He said this is the project to replace the sewer lines beside the vocational school. This is the third phase of the project where the city replaced sewer lines on Deerwood Avenue. They have received a Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) grant for roughly $480,000. The base bid was $489,777, but there is another portion of sewer line replacement that is included, which brings the total to $536,878.70. The city’s part is $38,000. Wagner said the actual grant amount could be more. Councilman Johnny Eller asked if they could table this item and discuss it more in executive session. He asked if Hardy Jackson could also be present for the discussion of this item in executive session. Councilman Phil Wallace said he would need to make a motion to add it to the executive session. Wagner said it would also need a 2/3 vote to be added. Councilman Eller made a motion to table discussion of the influent sewer line replacement bids and move it to be discussed in executive session with Hardy Jackson in attendance. Councilman Wallace seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
When it was time for the executive session, Councilman Wallace made a motion to enter into executive session for a contractual/legal matter and to discuss the influent sewer line replacement bids with Hardy Jackson. Councilman Jackson seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Councilman Wallace made a motion to enter into open session. Councilman Eller seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. With the return to open session, Councilman Eller made a motion to accept the bid recommendation for the influent sewer line replacement of $536,878.70 from Driggers Construction, LLC.
