Services for Robert Carey Coleman, Sr. will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church with burial in McLeod Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Coleman, 78, went to be with his Lord & Savior Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Born in Lumberton, NC, March 1, 1940, he was the son of the late Daniel Lyde Coleman, Sr. and Lura Dean Wallace Coleman. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Senior Saints Men’s Connect Group. He was a skilled hardworking Farmer who took pride in every piece of land he worked. He was a third generation farmer who was continuing his legacy with his family. He received Farmer of the Year, and he was the Co-owner of C&M Hog Farms equally partnered with Richard L. Myers. Robert was a loving husband, devoted father, and grandfather. Robert was an accomplished farmer who never failed to help those in need.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley N. Coleman of Latta; son, Robert C. Coleman, Jr. (Jenny) of Latta; daughters, Christie C. Daniels of Latta, and Leslie (Frank) Thompson of Dillon; grandchildren, Meagan (Dustin) Cook, Lyndsey Martin, Taylor (Willie) Froneberger, Austin Daniels, Katelyn Thompson, Anna Thompson, and Jordan Coleman; great-grandchildren, Dawson Munns, Noah Cook, John Alan Martin, III, and Charlotte Cook; brother, William Henry Coleman (Vickie); special aunt, Elizabeth “Lib” Coleman of Florence; brother-in-law, Townsend Norton (Sara Anne) of Darlington; sister-in-law, Martha Jean Coleman of Florence; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his brother, D.L. Coleman, Jr.
