Mount Calvary Baptist Church held the monthly meeting for Brotherhood, WMU, and BYU on Monday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Calvary Family Life Center.
After a delicious meal and fellowship, the groups dispersed to the designated locations.

Donald Lewis was the guest speaker for Brotherhood.
Mr. Lewis’ text came from Isaiah 55:11.
During his testimony, Lewis explained that from his birth God had His hands on him.
When Donald was born in 1945 in Lumberton, N.C., medicine had not advanced as it has today. Lewis’ parents were given the news that Donald would probably not live. His Mother seeked help for her son. His Mother convinced a local taxi driver to take her and her son to Fayetteville where he may receive some help from the baby specialist. The trip would cost $1.50. Mrs. Lewis convinced the taxi driver to allow her to charge it. As gas rationing was being done due to the war, the taxi driver had to seek gasoline from other drivers. As soon as gas was available, the trip began.
Mrs. Lewis was once again given the bad news that Donald would probably not make it through the night. The taxi driver was with Mrs. Lewis. He was a Christian and invited Mrs. Lewis to step into the hallway where they had prayer together. He led Mrs. Lewis to the Lord. Later that night Donald improved.
As a youngster, Donald once again got very sick. It was determined that he would have to have his kidney removed. Once again, with God taking care of him, he improved.
On another occasion Donald had to go to Duke as his spinal column was the problem. A tumor was located on it. Donald’s organs began to shut down. At this time Donald was 42 years old.
After consideration and speaking with Donald, the doctor did not operate except to place a drain tube into his body.
To this day Donald has numbness in one leg to his hip and numbness to his knee in the other leg.
This is the third time that Donald had faced death…and survived because God was taking care of him.
On another occasion Donald was in a deer stand and suffered a massive heart attack. Soon after that event Donald had another massive heart attack. Donald once again survived.
Four times Donald Lewis had survived thanks to God.
Donald Lewis became acquainted with alcohol at the early age of 13. As time progressed so did his drinking problem. Donald became depressed and would want to die.
Donald prayed for 32 years to stop drinking…and finally God saved him on August 5, 2005, and Donald no longer drinks. Donald now lives for the Lord.
He gladly tells everyone how the Lord has blessed him. Donald encourages everyone.
He has been blessed with 6 children who have never had any major health problems, and he has been married to his wife for 50 years.
Donald asked that no one ever give up on anyone as God can always help.
You are invited to join us next month on Monday, June 4, at 7:00 p.m. when the guest speaker for Brotherhood will be Ronnie Stone.
