Casey Manning, formerly of Dillon, and Phil Kornblut, formerly of Latta, will both be among the honorees at the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame’s 58th annual banquet and induction ceremony on May 14 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Manning will be among the inductees into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame’s 5 Class of 2018, and Kornblut will be recognized with a media award.
Manning is being inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame as a basketball standout. Manning played for Dillon High School, where his team won a state championship and where in his senior year, he was named the South Carolina High School Player of the Year.
In 1969, Manning went to the University a of South Carolina, where he played the position of guard. He was the first African-American basketball player at the University of South Carolina playing under Coach Frank McGuire.

While at the University of South Carolina, he received the freshman academic award, the outstanding senior award, and was part of the 1971 ACC Tournament Championship Team. Manning is a 1973 graduate of the University of South Carolina and received his law degree in 1977 from the University of South Carolina.
Manning is a former president of the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame. He is a color analyst for University of South Carolina Basketball radio.
Manning is currently a State of South Carolina Circuit Court Judge. He has served in this position since 1994.
Manning is the son of the late Paul and Harnethea B. Manning. His brothers and sisters include Paul Manning, Jr., Glenn Manning, Sr., Joe Melvin Manning, Sr., Linda Manning-Langley, and Sandra Manning-Kirby.

Phil Kornblut
Phil Kornblut will be receiving the Herman Helms Excellence In Media award.

This honor is awarded to the very best in media who cover sports in South Carolina and “who exude impeccable fairness and dedicated service to the integrity of the industry.”
Kornblut graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1979.
Kornblut has been the host of SportsTalk, a college and high school sports radio program, for the past 34 years. The program airs on 28 South Carolina radio stations. He also has a weekly sports column that runs on the web and in newspapers across South Carolina include The State newspaper in Columbia and The Post and Courier in Charleston among others.
Kornblut is very well-respected throughout the state and has won the Sportcaster Of The Year Award six times.
Kornblut is the son of the late Moses and Freda Kornblut. He is the brother of Harold Kornblut.
