BARNWELL—Funeral services for Billy “BB” Joe Smith, 63, of Barnwell, SC were held eleven a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church with the Reverend Kyle Hardin and Gary Hooper officiating; burial was in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport. Memorial contributions may be given to Friendship Baptist Church, 3132 Hwy. 64, Barnwell, SC 29812 or the Juvenile Diabetes Association, 1122 Lady St., Suite 1000, Columbia, SC 29201. BB passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
Born in Marion County, SC, he was a son of the late Lamar Wayne Smith and Janet Spivey Smith. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Dillon High School, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was plant manager of the Equine Facility. BB loved racing and was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan. He was a loving husband, brother, father, uncle and friend to many; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Nancy Pender Smith with whom he fell in love with at first sight, daughters Nancy K. “Missy” Nolind of Barnwell, Nichole (Danny Ray) Lewis of Dillon; sons Chip (Missy) Nolind of Barnwell, Joseph Smith of Dillon; grandchildren Pender H. Nolind (Paul Watson), Will Nolind, Charlie Nolind, Raylin Lewis, Brylee Lewis; sister Barbara Smith of Taylors; brothers Johnny Smith, Jerry (Patricia) Smith, John (Lori) Smith all of Dillon; brothers and sisters-in-law Gary (Maxine) Hooper, Donnie (Sandy) Pender; numerous nieces and nephews.
