The City of Dillon is in the early stages of planning a Saint Patrick’s Day event.
Mayor Todd Davis said at Monday night’s Dillon City Council meeting that the event will be held in the fountain area near First Bank, where the Christmas tree lighting was held. He said it would not be a major event with Celebrate Main Street coming up the following month, but he thought it would be something that people would enjoy.
City Manager Glen Wagner said they were looking at late morning or early afternoon on Saturday, March 17th as the date for the event.
Davis said they would talk to the restaurants about doing some Irish food that would be available for a fee. He said they were weighing beverages.
He said they were looking at getting some Irish dancers and someone had approached him about someone playing bagpipes. They are considering dyeing the water in the fountain green for the event.
Davis said the event would be something to get people out of the house. He said any ideas for the event are welcomed.
