The suspect in the deadly shooting on Lester Road in Dillon that killed 5-year-old Perla Azucena Banuelos-Allende has been arrested in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Marquis Antoine McRae, age 20, of Dillon is charged with murder in the death of Perla Azucena Banuelos-Allende.
McRae was arrested on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 and at press time was being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina awaiting an extradition hearing to determine when he will return to Dillon.
According to Captain Cliff Arnette, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at approximately 2:00 a.m.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Dillon County EMS and Dillon Rescue were dispatched to a shooting on Lester Road in Dillon.
Upon arrival of law enforcement at the scene, it was determined that three people were shot.
The victims were transported to McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, and one victim was pronounced dead. The victim is a five-year-old child, according to Arnette.
The shooting is under investigation by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the Dillon County Coroner’s Office. SLED Crime scene was called to assist with processing the scene.
Lakiesha Shanae Martin, age 24, of Latta, was charged with attempted murder for the shooting of one of the victims on Lester Road on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
Martin is not charged in the death of the five-year-old child.
