The Pilot Club of Dillon met on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at The City of Dillon Fire Department. 11 members were present.
The meeting was called to order by President Johnnie Luehrs. She graciously welcomed everyone and thanked everyone for bringing school supplies for this month’s project.
Sandra Ross led in The Lord’s Prayer and all stood and recited the pledges to the American and South Carolina flags. There was no report from the Secretary.
The newsletter was read by President Johnnie Luehrs. It stated several events that the Pilot Club is participating in. The Treasurer then stated the budget for this month and mentioned the Mother/Son Dance aid in our budget.
Dinner was then served. Special thanks to Charles and Loretta Taylor for catering. Scalloped potatoes, bacon wrapped chicken breasts, country style string beans, key lime pie and pecan pie were absolutely delicious. After the meal, the business meeting began.
Several members will be attending the Leadership workshop at First Baptist Church in Aynor on January 26, 2018. Also the Mother/ Son Dance will be held on February 23 at the City of Dillon Wellness Center. Tickets will go on sale the second week in February. This year, advance tickets will be sold at The Wellness Center for $5 and tickets at the door will be $10.
School supplies were gathered for this month’s project. Patricia Page, Chairman, asked that the club donate the supplies to the area schools. Approximately 20 bags of items were donated. Patricia thanked everyone and made sure they will get to the proper departments.
amie Sue Stephens encouraged all members to attend the Pilot International Convention this year in Nashville, Tennessee and gathered Pennies for Pilots.
Happy Bucks were donated and several Pilots of the months were nominated by President Luehrs.
The meeting was then adjourned.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 22 at the City of Dillon Fire Department.
The Pilot Club of Dillon is a non-profit organization that focuses on brain related activities such as Alzheimer’s disease, chemical dependency and traumatic brain injuries, as well as, developmental and mental disabilities.
