Dear Editor:
Your Editorial could not have said it any better! We do need a Professional Economic Development Director. We have not had one since Gene Butler left. Much of the good that has happened during the past few years has been in spite of some on County Council, and as you referenced, a result of work already done in the past. A few Councilmen actually treat Marlboro Electric as a foe that must be defeated, when in fact; Marlboro Electric has been the key player in bringing new industry to Dillon in recent years.
William Fleming, President and CEO or Marlboro Electric has vast Economic Development experience and extensive contacts in South Carolina and beyond. William could and should be an asset in helping find the highly qualified person we need.
This issue is too important for us to sit around and not get involved. Our futures are at stake.
