Mr. Gene Junior Hyatt, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Dillon County, SC, on November 17, 1940, he was the son of the late Eugene Hyatt and Aggie Hyatt. He was a retired Tree Surgeon and a member of Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church and the Adult’s Sunday School Class. He enjoyed playing southern gospel music on his guitar, spending time outside with his grandchildren and loved gardening. Three months ago, Bro. Gene accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Hyatt of their home in Dillon; a son, Bobby Hyatt (Lisa) of Dillon; a daughter, Frances George (Mike) of Dillon; sisters, Mary Ann Sweatt and Rachel Hyatt both of Hope Mills, NC; 3 grandchildren, Michael George (Candice), Chelsea Chittum (Shawn) and Bobby Jean Hyatt (Andrew); 6 great-grandchildren, Mason Ayers, Dixon Moates, Asher Moates, Brian Chittum, Ainsley George and Tristan George.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m.. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church in Temperance Hill with burial following in the Oak Grove Church of God Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.on Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon.
Brother Gene was preceded in death by his parents listed above; brothers, J.C., Keaver, Charlie and Joe Fred Hyatt; by sisters, Dorothy Hargrove and Eloise Gravette.
Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church.
