Mrs. Melma Mae Huggins Frye, 81, beloved widow of the late Robert Edward Frye, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence with her loving family by her side.
Born in Marion County, SC, on October 10, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Guy Huggins and Mary Jane Powers Huggins. She was a member of the Latta Church of God and a retired textile worker. She enjoyed going to church, listening to Southern Gospel Music, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Carrie (James) Smith of Latta, Bonnie Weatherford of Latta and Jackie (Dale) Huggins of Dillon; by sons, Bobby (Doris) Frye of Dillon, Danny (Debbie) Frye of Floyd Dale and Larry Frye of Latta; 7 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; and by a special friend, Linda Strickland of Floyd Dale.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; and by a son, Jimmy Lee Scott.
