Follow-up statement regarding the officer-involved shooting in Lake View released today, July 24, from Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office:
On Wednesday, July 12, 2017, deputies with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office were looking for James Gerald Davis to serve a warrant for domestic violence. The deputies had been to James Gerald Davis’ residence on Whitesands Drive in Lake View to serve the arrest warrant and were unable to locate Davis. The deputies left the residence and soon after leaving, the Sheriff’s Office received a call that Davis was at his residence and was going to harm himself. The deputies responded back to the residence, and the deputy made contact with Davis. The deputy feared for his life and discharged his weapon. The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
