Ms. Corrica Campbell is a veteran who had been laid off from her job of 12 years at JP Morgan Chase. Ms. Campbell, like so many others, had a great deal of decision making. After visiting our SC Works Marion Center in September 2014, she felt a little better about her situation and circumstances. Since Ms. Campbell’s position at JP Morgan Chase had been transferred to overseas, she was eligible for the Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) which is designed to help those affected by a mass lay-off or company closure. Ms. Campbell also expressed an interest in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) which assist adults and dislocated workers in gaining self-sufficient employment by way of direct placement, on the job training or classroom training.
Ms. Campbell was assigned career specialists from both programs that worked together with her to get her on a pathway to return to self-sufficient employment. The three of them collaborated to develop and tailor an individualized employment plan that involved Ms. Campbell completing her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Business Management at Coker College.
With much hard work and dedication, Ms. Campbell completed her Bachelor Degree at Coker College in October 2016. She expresses her gratitude for the assistance that she received from both programs. She was given an opportunity to enhance and more fully develop her skills and educational background to move forward in a direction that led her to gainful employment. She is now employed with a reputable local company as a loan specialist.
