The Lake View Junior Legion baseball team captured a 7-4 win over in-town rival Latta on Thursday, June 15, in a game played in Latta.
Noah Henderson pitched 5 innings and allowed 6 hits, 4 runs, walked 1, and struck out 6 to get the win for Lake View.
Webb Cardwell pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 hits, 4 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 2, and struck out 2 for the loss.
Latta placed the first 2 runs of the game on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning. Lake View answered in the top of the third inning with 3 runs of their own to take a 1-run lead. Lake View added 3 runs in the top of the fifth, and Latta added 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth. Lake View placed another run on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning. Lake View committed 2 errors while Latta committed 1 error in the game.
Lake View connected for 8 hits in the game while Latta had 5. Lake View’s Deandre Wheeler connected for 3 hits including a triple and a rbi in 4 at-bats while Cooper Lane garnered a hit and a rbi in 2 at-bats. Hunter Herlong picked up a hit and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats. Latta’s John Malcolm George picked up a hit and a rbi in 4 at-bats while Trae Anderson connected for 1 hit in 2 at-bats. Russell Rogers garnered a hit in 3 at-bats, and Pierce Watson picked up a hit and a rbi in 4 at-bats.
Lake View traveled to Pee Dee on Monday, June 19, while Latta hosted Wilson that same evening.
