The Dillon Junior American Legion baseball team squeezed by Marlboro 6-5 on Monday, June 19, in a game played in Bennettsville.

Dillon’s Rae Rae McGirt pitched 2 innings and allowed no hits, no runs, walked no one, and struck out 5 to pick up the win. Jackson Hayes pitched 5 innings for the save. He allowed 5 hits, 5 runs of which only 1 was earned, walked 3, and struck out 7.
Marlboro’s Kulter Williams was tagged with he loss. He pitched 3 innings and allowed 1 hit, 3 earned runs, walked 5, and struck out 3.
Dilllon managed to get a run on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning and added 2 more in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead. Marlboro garnered a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 2 runs. Dillon managed to get another run cross home plate in the top of the fifth inning to go back up by 3 runs. Dillon added 2 runs in the top of the sixth while Marlboro managed 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Dillon committed 5 errors in the game while Marlboro did not commit an error.
Dillon managed 6 hits while holding Marlboro to 5 hits.
Jared Darmon was perfect at the plate for Dillon with a single and a rbi in 1 at-bat while Bo Bo McKinnon connected for a double and a rbi in 2 at-bats. Marlboro’s Jett Herndon and Kutler Williams each garnered 2 hits in 4 at-bats while Tyler Ingram connected for a double and 2 rbi in his 4 at-bats.
Dillon is 6-4 for the season.
