Services for Elgiereen Long Bethea were held 4:00 p.m. Monday at Latta Baptist Church with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation was held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bethea, 86, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Born in Florence, SC, September 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late David Lee Long and Hattie Caroline Hamilton Long. She was a lifelong member of Latta Baptist Church where she was a member of the Harriett Dew Sunday School Class, Adult Choir, and the WMU. She was an honorary member of the Dogwood Garden Club of Latta, and the Dillon County Red Hat Society. She was the former Owner and Operator of the Record Rack in Latta, Dillon, and Mullins for 26 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Tara (Nader) Khalil of Dillon; granddaughters, Anna Caroline Khalil, and Lea Foster Khalil; special niece, Kathy Khalil of Dillon; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Bethea; numerous nieces and nephews; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bethea was preceded in death by her husband, Foster Bass Bethea, Sr., her daughter, Penny Bethea Lawrence; her son, Foster Bass Bethea, Jr.; sister, Virginia Long Morrison; and her brothers, Ted, Charlie, Biven, Beaufort, Ishmael, Cecil and Paul Long.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Agape Hospice for their care and compassion for Ms. Elgiereen during her illness especially Joann and Teresa.
