Services for Horace Vernon Whittington will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at Hamer Church of God with entombment in Evergreen Perpetual Care Cemetery Mausoleum directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Whittington, 97, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, SC, January 27, 1920, he was the son of the late Horace G. Whittington and Mamie Whittington. He was a member of Hamer Church of God, was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, and was retired from Proctor & Gamble.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Molly Whittington of Rowland, NC; daughter, Cynthia Whittington of Parkersburg, West Virginia; son, Horace “Jeff” Whittington of Alabama; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah Ramey of Newport News, VA; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his 2 sons, 1 daughter, 9 sisters, and 4 brothers.
