Have you driven by East Elementary lately? If you have, you might have noticed that it looks like a school garden will soon be growing! Land has been cleared, raised beds have been placed, and soil has been laid.
Club leader, Candace Bohachic and the 4-Hers at East Elementary have been actively working to ensure that their school garden is ready for spring planting. School gardens can provide academic growth, social/emotional development, physical benefits, and environmental appreciation.
Clemson Extension will continue to provide guidance and resources as the Dillon County 4-H and the East Elementary school garden grow.
If you are interested in having a school wide garden or a 4-H club at your school for the next school year, please contact 4-H agent, Erika James at 843-774-8218 or directly at erikao@clemson.edu. Check out the Clemson Extension 4-H Dillon County Facebook® Page.
