Spring like weather had come and vanished when Daughters of the American Revolution met on March 14, 2017 at the Dillon Wellness Center.
The meeting room was almost filled to capacity with four high school students and members of their family and friends who joined in the celebration of Good Citizens.
After the meeting was called to order by Regent Chris Harris, Nancy Brigman, chair of the Good Citizenship Committee, was recognized.
She gave a brief description of her committee and asked the students to introduce themselves with remarks about the school they represented and their future plans.
They were reminded of the essay they can write for competition at a later date. Students were Tamesha Clements, Dillon High; Jasmine Ford, Lake View High; Genesis Anderson, Latta High; Raven Norris, Dillon Christian.
Some of the highlights of the meeting were as follows: A golf tournament at Tamassee; Spring Meeting in Columbia; Vietnam Veterans Day at Patriot’s Point; USA Musical Entertainment by Winyah Chapter in Georgetown; Donation in memory of Adeline Rogers Browning, DAR long-time member; Appointment of Nominating Committee; Announcements of May 9, 2017 meeting.
Polly McIntyre filled in as secretary in the absence of Linda Dutton. Hostesses of the meeting were Jane Calhoun, Rena Alford, and Susan Shine.
The last word til May!
